I am a public health scientist based at the Dept. of International Health, Immunology and Microbiology of the University of Copenhagen. I have more than 30 years of working experience in international health mainly from Africa and South East Asia, covering research, higher education and consultancy work. My thematic focus is in the areas of environmental health, health impact assessment (HIA), health related aspects of agricultural development and water resources development, health impacts of climate change, integrated schistosomiasis control and poverty and environmental health linkages.

IPCC report: Climate Change 2014

UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II has today released its contribution to the 5th IPCC Assessment Report (AR5).

The 10th Session of WG II was held from 25-29 March 2014 in Yokohama, Japan and the WG approved the final scientific and technical assessment on “Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability”

The Chapter 11 is of special interest for the global health community focusing on “Human Health: Impacts, Adaptation and Co-Benefits”.

Thousands of people have been killed or injured and millions are affected on their livelihoods. At the same time health services and facilities are seriously damaged or even completely destroyed.
